Second single album title <Because of You> is number one in every music charts.
Two freshmen join After School, ‘Fresher than before’
Raina, ‘I have chubby cheeks because of Uee unni?’ ’

I met them for the second time since their debut. Now they are seven. There have been graduates and freshmen during just a year. When I had an interview with Raina and Nana… it wasn’t that great. Maybe it’s because they were new and nervous?

“(Kahi) At that time, it was all about a concept. We thought it was the obvious one. But, now we realize that we should’ve had more various forms of performances. Was I too scary back then?”

As leader Kahi mentioned, they were different on the stage back then. While young groups such as SNSD and Kara are very famous, After School tried to mimic as Korea’s Pussycat Dolls. Taking advantage of the small Korean music industry, they came up with an idea of a group with idols + women which resulted in a big success.

In fact, After School has matured more musically also when they stopped by with the second single album. They explained that they added emotional concepts to the song: rhythmical sad songs with strong tempos rather than the powerful feeling of ‘Diva.’

Q. How have you been doing?

“I’ve been constantly participating in various entertainment programs and dramas. Other members were strictly preparing for the comeback album (Uee)”

Recently dance groups call their own dance style in a certain way…

“We don’t have a special name for it. A kind of wall dance or throwing away dance for feel tight, closed in, at a loss, bitching at me, looking down on me in this title song <Because of You>? (Kahi, showing me the dance style)”

Q. You made a comeback with 7 members. What’s the big difference this time?

“Our group atmosphere has been brighter than before. It was good that Raina is the same age as me who I could make friends with(Bekah). Nana sometimes asks me if I’m ok and try to comfort me when I look tired during practice. Hoho~”

Q. People talked about the music video a lot. Was there any episode from it?

“It was a difficult work(?)! Friendship and love and ambiguous border in between with friends.. specially, the pillow fight was fun (Kahi). In movies, the feathers from the pillow look pretty don’t they? During the review, it looked great, but at that time I couldn’t even breathe because the feather was stuck in my throat. Also, I looked like a fighter in the scene but now watching it again, I’m glad that it turned out pretty and excellent! (Uee)”

Everybody started talking a lot as the interview progressed.

“Also, there was a scene where Jooyeon unnie washed my hair. The real conversation between us was like this. “Hey! Raise your head! (Jooyeon). We tried to act better this way.

Q. The lyrics of the title song <Because of You> are very sad. How did you make the recording?
“We turned off the light of the studio also to be able to have the feeling of love. Remembering all the memories that we don’t want to think about, we focused on our feelings.. we cried so hard during practice (Kahi)”

Q. How are the freshmen ‘Raina’ and ‘Nana’ adapting to the new school?

“I tried to take care of them as a leader, of course (laughs) I was also a freshmen a year ago when making a debut, so all the members were helping me try to not be nervous and anxious.”

Q. Let Raina be the freshman representative and hear what she has to say. Who takes care of you best?

“All the roles from each member who helps me out are different. It’s hard to say (laughs). Umm.. Jung Ah unnie’s nickname is consultation unnie. She can even be consulted with about just 1,000 won (It was a joke, but when Jung Ah said she received it, she was upset) Kahi is a leader and helped me with dancing a lot. Uee fed me good (laughs)”

Q. (Suddenly) Then, the chubby cheeks of Uee are becoming just like Raina also? (Refer to HD screen)

Uee said “I’d like to do a lot of things since I made a debut just a year ago. The goal is that we become a perfect group that we can do anything. (Kahi laughs)

Jung Ah made it simple saying, “After School is a group that is so~ cool! Haha!”
